DIANE NEUMANN

Attorney/Therapist/Mediator

 

 

 

DIANE NEUMANN, M.A., J.D. began her mediation practice in 1981.  She is recognized as one of the foremost mediators in the country.  Diane is the author of two highly acclaimed books: Divorce Mediation: How to Cut the Cost and Stress of Divorce and Choosing a Divorce Mediator, published by Henry Holt & Co.   In addition to her practice, she has been training mediators since the mid 1980’s.

Diane’s areas of expertise are two-fold; complex financial and tax matters and difficult custody and parenting issues.  She is Past President of both the national Academy of Family Mediators and the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation.  She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling and a Juris Doctorate.  Her previous experience as a couples and family counselor, an Internal Revenue Service Representative as well as being a licensed Massachusetts attorney make her uniquely suited to help people reach a settlement.


ELLEN WALDORF, J.D. previously practiced corporate law at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in Washington , D.C. , where she represented clients in complex business transactions and was responsible for the negotiation and drafting of contracts.  Ellen mediates separation and divorce settlements for clients with modest estates; for example, clients with real estate and 401(k)s, as well as more complicated matters such as stock options and Trusts. 

Ellen is a graduate of Yale University and the New York University School of Law.  She clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in Denver , Colorado .  She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia .

DAVID RIVER
Mediator

DAVID B. RIVER , B.A. has worked as a full-time mediator since 1995.  He mediates separation and divorce settlements, many of which include custody, child support and post-divorce issues.  He is a specialist in web-based communication and facilitation for clients who are unable to consistently meet for face-to-face mediation sessions.  David was Diane Neumann’s assistant prior to mediating at the firm. 

Previously, David directed a court-connected mediation program with the New Mexico Center for Dispute Resolution where he trained attorneys, therapists and teachers in the practice of mediation. David is on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation. and is a member of the national Association for Conflict Resolution.


DR. LYNN K. COOPER, Ed.D. has been a psychotherapist specializing in child, family and couple relationships since 1975.   Lynn is an expert in the assessment and treatment of behavioral problems in children related to separation and divorce.  She works with families, couples and children who are in the process of coping with separation and divorce and want the best parenting arrangement for their children.

Lynn is a former Vice President for the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation.  Lynn is a Board Certified Clinical Psychologist, a Fellow of the Academy of Clinical Psychology , and past President of the Massachusetts Society of Clinical Psychologists.
